How to join the server

If you've only ever launched Minecraft from the official launcher (or the Microsoft Store on Windows), that's fine — you just need a different launcher to play here. Works the same way on Windows, macOS, and Linux. About 10 minutes. No command line.

? Why a different launcher?

The server runs Cobblemon, a mod that adds Pokémon. The default Minecraft launcher can't install mods. You need a launcher that can — we recommend the free Modrinth App. You'll sign in with the same Microsoft account you already use, so your purchase and skin carry over. Your regular Minecraft stays installed and untouched.

1 Download the Modrinth App

Go to modrinth.com/app and grab the build for your OS:

Already have Prism Launcher? Use that instead — the steps are nearly identical. Both work great on all three OSes.

2 Sign in with Microsoft

The Modrinth App will prompt you to add a Microsoft account. Click Sign in and use the same email and password as your regular Minecraft. This proves to Mojang that you own the game; the Modrinth App can then launch it just like the official launcher does.

You need Java Edition Minecraft. Mac and Linux users: this is the only edition you can buy, so you're fine. Windows users: if you bought Minecraft from the Microsoft Store, you may only have the Bedrock Edition — it doesn't work with mods. Good news: if you already own Minecraft, Java Edition is a free upgrade. Grab it at minecraft.net.

3 Create the modded instance

In the Modrinth App, click + Create (or New instance). Pick these exact options:

Click Create instance. The launcher downloads everything it needs (Minecraft 1.21.1 + Fabric). Takes about a minute on a normal connection.

Why exactly 1.21.1? Cobblemon only releases for specific Minecraft versions, and 1.21.1 is the one it supports right now. If you pick anything else, the server won't let you in.

4 Add the mods

Open the instance you just created. There's a Mods tab — click it, then Add content (or the search/browse button). Search and install each of these:

Fabric API required Foundation library; almost every Fabric mod needs it. view ↗
Cobblemon required The Pokémon mod. Pick version 1.7.3 if you're asked. view ↗

Optional, for nicer graphics

Sodium optional Big FPS boost. Safe on every machine. view ↗
Iris Shaders optional Lets you use shader packs. Requires Sodium. view ↗
Complementary Reimagined optional A shader pack. Drop it into shaderpacks/ and enable it in-game. view ↗
Make sure every mod you install says it supports Minecraft 1.21.1 and the Fabric loader. The launcher usually filters this for you automatically when it knows your instance is Fabric 1.21.1.

5 Launch and connect

Click the big Play button on your instance. Minecraft opens — but this time loaded with Fabric and your mods.

From the Minecraft main menu:

  1. Multiplayer
  2. Add Server
  3. Name: anything (e.g. seez Cobblemon)
  4. Server Address:
minecraft.seez.studio
  1. Done → double-click the server in your list to join.

You should appear in the world. Walk into grass, water, or caves and Pokémon will start spawning.

! If something goes wrong

"Incompatible client, please use 1.21.1"

Your instance is on a different Minecraft version. Open the instance settings and make sure the version is exactly 1.21.1 (not 1.21.2, not 26.x, not anything else).

"Outdated server" or "Outdated client"

Same root cause — version mismatch. Confirm 1.21.1 in the instance.

The launcher won't sign in

Make sure you're using the same Microsoft account you use for regular Minecraft. If you've enabled 2FA, you'll get a verification prompt.

"You are not whitelisted"

Ping the server admin (in Discord) with your Minecraft username so they can add you. Whitelisting is by exact username.

Pokémon don't show up / look glitched

Confirm Cobblemon and Fabric API are both installed in this instance and the launcher didn't downgrade their versions. Restart Minecraft.
